We’re shutting down

To our wonderful Data Explorers,

It’s with a heavy heart that we’re announcing the WhyHive app will shut down on 28 April 2025.

Since pivoting to build the WhyHive app two years ago, we’ve helped so many researchers, founders, consultants, impact evaluators, and many others uncover insights in their data. We set out to make data analytics more accessible and affordable, and we’re proud to have built what we have together. 

Unfortunately, sustaining this project long term would have required significantly more growth and revenue than we were able to achieve. Sadly, this means it’s no longer feasible for our team to keep working on the app or to keep it online.

This may come as a surprise, given we only announced our pre-seed raise in August last year. We actually closed the round in March 2023 (2 years ago), but wanted to wait until it had been thoroughly tested by early adopters and was ready for a big launch before we announced the raise publicly.

What this means for our users:

• You can continue using the app until 28 April 2025.

• After that date, the app and all projects will no longer be accessible.

• Please download any data or charts you want to keep before this date.

What this means for paying customers:


• You don’t need to take any action to cancel your subscription. On 28 April, your subscription will be cancelled and you will receive a pro-rata refund for any remaining subscription time. This will be processed automatically.

To our users: thank you, literally SO much, for being part of this journey ❤️🫶 Your feedback and enthusiasm has meant the world to us, and we couldn’t have built WhyHive without you. One of the best parts of this journey has been fostering a community around this product. Building for you guys made every day worth it.
